Google, Microsoft fooled by serving ads against malware (Daily Tech)

Cree, sorry guys... those advertisements were actually malware Google advertising subsidiary DoubleClick and Microsoft MSN ads service both have admitted to the fall of an intelligent system by some nasty black hat hackers.  Malicious banner ads for services were trying to perform drive - by operation of downloading and installing malicious software on the computers of users. As with many large (or terrible) episodes of computer crime, a key component was clever social engineering.  Hackers has created a site called ADShufffle .com - a letter from ADShuffle.com, a major online advertising technology company.  Apparently, it is enough to cross the screeners at Microsoft and Google ads. Security firm Armorize seems to be the first noticed the attack.  Chief Wayne Huang Armorize details technology officer unusual in a blog, written incident: users visit sites that integrate banners from DoubleClick or rad.msn.com, the malicious javascript used ADShufffle.com (notice of paragraph 3), starts a process of download car and if successful, hard drive more and other malicious software are installed on the victim machine without the need to take victim to doing nothing or by clicking on anything. Simply visiting the grubby page visitors.Known sites affected: sites that incorporate banners DoubleClick or rad.msn.com, including for example Scout.com (from DoubleClick), realestate.msn.com, msnbc.com (using both) and mail.live.com. We wish to emphasize here that it is quite possible that several exchanges, in addition to those listed here, have been serving videogame ADShufffle ads.For all the ingenuity, the attackers used fairly standard operating packages including Neosploit and operate Eleonore kit.  Two kits are popular among black hat hackers, but also among security experts who buy their battle-testing business security systems last attack used JavaScript exploits to initiate a procedure for downloading, which was triggered when users have visited a page that was compromised banners.  Ad service would then request code advertising servers from hackers, launch the attack.  A spokesman for Google provided advertisements were only for a very short period and have since been terminated.  Company is now investigating the incident.  Microsoft has not issued a statement, but probably takes similar incident measures. The is not Google's first brush with the advertising of malware.  Before malicious hackers have proved to be taking advantage service Google AdWords.  In this case, the key to the success of criminals used links look legitimate. How to install Windows on Google Chrome OS Notebook (PC Magazine)

When Will We See a Chrome OS Device?

The fact that the CR - 48 Google Notebook runs on an Intel processor suggests that it can run Windows or a different operating system full blown. But how to install Windows in the first place? It is not entirely clear. But we have the answer, or at least a part of it. Apparently, all portable CR - 48 are equipped with a developer, which, when activated, can potentially wipe and restore the partition provided the plant or break your current configuration of the chromium OS mode. This is no big deal, since all Web Store applications and browser settings reside in the cloud and it synchronize all worms laptop shouldn't take long. Point of this exercise is to show that if ever you decide to steal your laptop equipped chromium and to install another operating system, switch to developer mode is the way to do so.

First of all, to make the switch, Google recommends turning off the system. It also alerts you to this mode switching exposes system from malware and virus attacks, given that you are turning off tested boot (the ROM chip) on the motherboard. The rest is pretty simple: presentation of the black piece band under the battery, next to the power connector and remove to reveal a white switch. Flip the switch on the other hand and here, you are the developer mode. Then start the laptop.

Booting to a USB thumbdrive. We tried to connect this USB drive, but nothing happened. At any time if you f, you're presented two options: you can hit the space bar and proceed with a recovery mode. This allows to restore the laptop computer to its original state, will, if you download the software for recovery. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, you can return the switch to return and resume where you left in the chrome OS. If you leave the system sitting in the mode "sad face" for too long, the system will automatically delete and repartition your disk.

It takes about five to ten minutes of preparation for this mode and during this time, seeding system by removing the current solid state drive, or that the console is defined as "erase the partition with State." I presume that the partition, that is create is where Windows or any other operating system will reside, but it is all that can gather at this stage. The thing is the port USB is not aware of my devices or network, then how a to install Windows on this laptop is imprecise and probably a work in progress. Something for certain, though: the mere existence of the developer switch means that Google is not opposed to the development of programs for chromium, equipped with systems say, a dual-boot Windows and chrome OS.

Google accused inflated figures enabling Android (TGDaily)

There are all sorts of buzz yesterday regarding request for Google it is enabling new Android devices at a rate of 300 000 per day. But someone calls shenanigans that.

That someone is Frost and Sullivan analyst Michael Jude. Although Google VP Andy Rubin said "activations" 300,000 were happening every day, Jude said that number "can represent the number of phones shipped to manufacturers, many end up in warehouses, rather than into the pockets of the people."

I guess the word "activation" could simply mean that a device is packed and ready for use, which means that he left the Assembly line. But most people would consider actually reach the end user and is connected to the service.

Jude was no solid evidence to rebuke claim Rubin, but he is skeptical, because only a few months ago Google was only "activation" approximately 200,000 devices Android, much less that it claims to do it now.

Of course, Android powered now much more than smartphones. It is used in Nook e-reader Barnes & noble, tab Galaxy Samsung, TV on Sony's, decoder reviewed Logitech and a bunch of things.

Regardless, Android is doing well. No one can deny that.
