Canadian government approves iBookstore (Macworld) (Yahoo!)

The Department of Canadian Heritage announced she has reviewed and approved officially Apple†™ s creation of iBookstore, thus opening the door to increased selection and local content more tense € ™ s library online for our cousins in the North.

This type of examination is normally by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and official languages whenever a foreign company made a significant investment in an activity which has the potential to affect Canadian culture. Its objective is to determine whether the investment will bring a â €œnet benefitâ

According to a press release issued by the Government agency, Apple is committed to provide five main benefits for Canadians: new jobs and of better services, assistance to Canadian publishers by creating and improving e-books, titles in both official languages of the country, promote increased opportunities for authors and publishers and better access to Aboriginal title.

The iBookstore official approval is likely to make a number of changes on the market of Apple e-book. The most obvious will likely be the introduction of new titles authored, but the inhabitants of the Great White North will appreciate also require service customer; best selections, as publishers more create electronic versions of their books. and, of course, more opportunities for developers to reach a wider audience.
